Post Migration Checklist

Congratulations on transferring your website across from the old PhotoMerchant – we hope the process was relatively painless… Before you start promoting your new website and shouting about it from the rooftops, work your way through this check list to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

1. Custom domains updates
While we will move all your website domain setup information across to the new Fotomerchant, you will need to make some changes to your DNS records so that your Domain Registrar knows where your new website is hosted. Check out the How do I switch my domain from PhotoMerchant to Fotomerchant? tutorial for configuring your new Domain settings.

2. Google Analytics update
Your Google Analytics tracking code will be automatically transferred to your new account and will continue working as expected. If your website address has changed in the migration you should update your website address settings in your Google Analytics account (this mostly applies to users who primarily use a vanity domain such as acmephoto.fotomerchant.com).

3. Google Webmaster Tools update
The fastest way to let Google know that your new website is up and running is to log into your Google Webmaster Tools account and re-index (very) your new website domain. It may not be completely necessary but it’s a wise investment in your time.

4. Check your website
The first thing you should do is to check that all your Galleries are in the right order and that your Navigation is in the order you intended. Re-ordering galleries and page links is now easier than ever with improved drag and drop tools.

5. Social Interactions
If you are using the Social Publishing functionality to promote your galleries to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and LinkedIn, or if you are using the URL shortening service Bitly, you will need to reconnect your social accounts in Interactions / Social Connections
