Build a better Website Menu

Your website just levelled up with our new menu system!

Building multiple levels of navigation using dropdown menus was one of our most requested features for the Fotomerchant platform. Today, we’re extremely excited to announce that you can now drag and drop your way through creating dropdown menus for your Fotomerchant website with ease!

To make content easier to access, your website navigation menu can be organised up to 3 levels deep. In the Website Pages area of a Fotomerchant website, drag and drop the list of pages to better organise and structure your website.

You can also create Folders, a new type of page that lives in the website navigation and helps group similar content and improve the structure of websites.

Special pages such as Gallery Category and Portfolio pages also have a new option to “Expand in Navigation”. With this option, Gallery Category and Portfolio Pages will list the galleries or gallery categories they contain directly in the website menu!

All Fotomerchant website themes have been upgraded to support dropdown menus and this new feature is available to all Fotomerchant customers.

Hats off to you guys. I was a bit wary of fotomerchant v3, and somewhat put off by all the early criticism around pricing etc. But as a v2 user (fairly new) I took the plunge once the pricing discount offer came out for existing users. Very glad I did! I’ve administrated, designed-in and used many Web CMSs in different forms (mostly corporate and elearning) over the years. I’m painfully aware of how difficult it can be to get the balance right between usability and user freedom/control. This system, even given it’s fairly new after the generational shift to v3, is very good. Usablity is high in my opinion and the new themes and device freindly stuff is really sweet., And finally, someone has a decent web editor that actually controls tables and styles consitently (and yes I know – the editor is very basic right now). Sure, there are things to improve and some irritations, but it’s early days yet. I’m encouraged by all these new features. Keep up the good work guys! (and btw – I’m not affiliated with FM – just another photographer/user :) )

Thanks for the feedback Nic.. More to come soon!

  • Such great functionality in such a simple, easy to implement form. Thanks guys, love the extended menu. I can see that I became a merchie just at the right time.
PS Totally agree with everything Nic says. I’ve made a number of websites using the CMS platform Joomla and I’m pleased to hand off the responsibility to folks who are working hard to provide a simple but powerful back end that gives a clean, attractive and very functional website.

The drop down menu feature is so easy for editing menu items. Many platform has this feature but it should be like foto merchant platform. Drug and drop menu system helps designer to bring out a fine look for custom menus.
